The Race that

Matters Most

Sermon Notes

The Olympic Games make us think about competitive races, imagining what it would feel like to stand on the platform during the playing of the National Anthem and receive the gold medal. The Bible uses the language of a “race” to describe the life of faith--training for the race, running it (we could also say swimming it) and then celebrating at the finish line. Today’s message from Hebrews 12:1-3 helps us to understand our roles in the race and to realize that a great crowd of witnesses is cheering us on to victory in Jesus.
